Dr. Jessica Torok is a 2008 graduate of Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine.  She has completed post-graduate training in internal medicine, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, ultrasound and advanced dentistry.

Prior to Veterinary School, Dr. Torok served as a surgical assistant in the US Navy, lived in San Diego, Virginia and Okinawa Japan.  She has been medical director at 2 AAHA Certified practices and is excited to have her own hospital.

In her free time you can find her curled up with her favorite Mini Dachshund, Oscar, playing with her children, singing at an open mic event or adventuring with her incredibly supportive partner, Mike.

Veterinary Technicians

theresa Gabel, BS CVT

Theresa graduated from Joliet Junior College in 2008 with her AAS in Veterinary Technology and acquired her veterinary technical licensure in the state of Illinois. She then decided to further her education and attended St. Petersburg College (Florida) where she obtained her BAS in Veterinary Technology in 2012.

She has worked in a variety of veterinary settings including emergency, specialty, laboratory, and general practice.

In her free time she enjoys weight lifting, running 5k races, riding her ATV, and spending time with her daughter, boyfriend, and his son.

Theresa has two cats that have opposite personalities but yet they mesh well amongst one another. Junior is a male orange DMH and Latte Coffee Kitten is a female heterochromia Siamese mix.

Theresa is excited to join the team at Urban Veterinary Associates and is eager to provide optimal love, care, and commitment to each and every fur family member. 


Kate Rendleman, BS CVT

Kate graduated from Northern Illinois University in 2013 with a Bachelors in Biology and minor in chemistry. After graduation she interned at Mote Aquarium in Sarasota, Fl rehabilitating sea turtles and dolphins.  Upon returning to Illinois she attended Joliet Junior College, degreed in Applied Sciences, and is a Certified Veterinary Technician, CVT. 

In her spare time, she is the CVT and licensed wildlife rehabiltator at Willowbrook Wildlife Center providing care for injured and orphaned Illinois wildlife. 

She had the opportunity to intern at Brookfield Zoo and has traveled abroad to Belize and Guatemala working with wildlife that were once part of the exotic animal trade.  

She has had pets all of her life including dogs, hedgehogs, rabbits and most recently a tuxedo cat named Tuna. 

Kate is excited for her new adventure, being a part of Urban Veterinary Associates and is excited to see what the future holds!

Jessica Villanueva, VT

Jessica  graduated from the Vet Tech Institute at Fox College in 2013, earning her associate's degree and becoming a Certified Veterinary Technician. Since then, she has worked at an animal daycare and boarding facility in Chicago. She is excited to return back to veterinary medicine in a hopsital setting to help pets in need! 

In her spare time, she loves to read science fiction and spend time with her three cats, Koko, Gabby, and Cassie.



Reception/ Management Staff

Chartia (tia) Robinson, BBA 

Chartia  graduated from Grand Valley State University with a Bachelors in Business Administration in Accounting. After graduation, she interned at Brookfield Zoo for the summer where she discovered her love for nature and animals. Shortly after her time with the Zoo, she began working for a corporate veterinary group as a Client Service Coordinator and lead reception staff. She is currently working towards a MBA at Western Governors University. 

In her spare time, she loves spending time with her dog, Lovey, and family. She and Lovey take long walks along the beach.  Chartia is also working on a personal photography portfolio focused on nature, pets, and people. 

Chartia is ecstatic to be a part of the Urban Veterinary Associates team and build a future together.
