Canine Influenza is the sneaky virus that is shared between apparently healthy pets. It has a very high rate of infection and the biggest risk is with dogs in close quarters (such as boarding, grooming, daycare and dog parks).
Urban Vet is offering first time Flu Vaccine recipients to get their booster vaccination as a complementary service (when the initial vaccine is given in April). The booster vaccination is due within 3-4 weeks and must be given within this time frame to be effective.
For those dogs already vaccinated, the annual vaccine will be 50% off in April.
Dogs are actively shedding virus and infecting other dogs for up to 5 days before they show any signs of illness. Canine Influenza vaccinations are available for BOTH strains of Canine Influenza to help protect your pet. We even carry the bivalent vaccination which means both strains are contained in one dose, so your pup only needs to be poked once.
Keep in mind this vaccination is not indicated for all pets, but for those at risk, it is a necessity! All pets must have a scheduled appointment and valid examination to be eligible.
